I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) from the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario and a University of Toronto graduate with a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and Global Mental Health with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I am a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals.
I am receiving new clients and provide therapy from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy standpoint. Psychology is my passion and providing counseling bilingually (In both English and Spanish) gives me the opportunity to grow on that passion, in addition to being a mental health advocate. In Canada, I have been working closely with adolescents with learning difficulties and psychological challenges in learning contexts and also working closely with adults and seniors.
I have ample experience abroad, in international settings specialized in education, psychotherapy, research and mental health awareness both in South and North America. I have worked with clients that have been challenged by OCD, personality disorders, anxiety, depression, addiction, ADHD, PTSD, chronic pain, chronic illness, behavioural issues, developmental disorders, domestic abuse, divorce, self-esteem, psychosis, impulse control disorders, mood disorders, dissociative disorders and more. My experience also stemmed from working in two public hospital settings internationally, specifically in schizophrenia prevention programs along with providing psychotherapy. I learned how to navigate health systems while promoting mental health education, providing direct counseling and mental health screenings in poverty-stricken settings. Similarly, I have experience in developmental psychology pertaining to children and adolescent’s mental health development, in a private American school setting abroad.
The goals and needs of each client are tailored to the individual’s outlook to help them take their first steps towards their goals. An ideal client would be someone who is willing to put in the work to take the steps towards change. Yet, again, change can be overwhelming, and you may not be ready for change; I am here to help you get there too and Showing up is the first step. I want to help you achieve mental wellness through empowerment and scientifically based techniques and approaches that are catered to your needs, culture and experiences. Together we will work to acquire the necessary tools and strategies to achieve your goals in psychotherapy from a compassionate outlook on my part and you will have an active role in your recovery. A common misconception of psychotherapy is that you have to suffer from a mental illness to go to therapy; however, psychotherapy is necessary to everyone, in order to achieve holistic wellness. You don’t have to fit a “mold” to seek psychotherapy and you are always welcome given that I am here to help you reach your optimal potential and coping skills to empower your inner growth.
